Year 4 Residential Trip 23rd – 25th April 2018 Kingswood Activity Centre Nr Albrighton, Staffordshire
The venue We are staying for three days / two nights at the Kingswood Residential Centre in Staffordshire. The venue is just the other side of Birmingham and will take 1hr 30 minutes to reach (approximately!) We leave school at around midday on the Monday and return as close to 3pm as possible on the Wednesday.
The venue Staffordshire – the original Kingswood centre – was purpose-built for residential school visits. This compact centre is ideal for younger students and, with all facilities within easy reach of the main buildings, ensures that teachers are able to supervise all activities with ease.

A day full of fun and learning A typical day at Kingswood runs as follows: • Breakfast is served between 7.30am and 9am • First activities start around 9.30am • 10 minute juice break • Lunch time allocation between 12pm and 2.30pm • A full afternoon of activities • Evening meal time allocation between 5pm and 7pm • Evening entertainment from 8pm followed by hot chocolate • Lights out by 10.15pm Let's see the venue in action!
A day full of fun and learning • Six activity sessions per full day plus one final evening session • Fully qualified Kingswood activity instructors lead all activities • Students are encouraged and praised during activities but are NEVER forced to take part if they are not comfortable doing so While other groups will also be present on centre during our stay, all activities, meal times and sleeping arrangements are completely separate.
Food glorious food! All day activities build up a serious appetite! Three freshly-prepared, buffet style meals are served daily in the communal dining area. Every meal time will incorporate both hot and cold options (including at least one vegetarian option), with a salad bar and plenty of water. Dietary requirements will be passed on and catered for where possible.
Bedtime routine To finish off each day, hot chocolate is served on request before children return to their dorms. Plenty of sleep is required to recharge the batteries, so although children do have some free time in their rooms before lights out, the final curfew is strictly enforce!
Sleeping – a home away from home! • All residential dormitories are warm, comfortable and 100% secure • Girls and boys sleep in separate areas and teachers rooms are located close by to allow for plenty of close supervision • All bedding is provided at the centre - one of the very first tasks for all students is making up their own beds! • Separate showers and toilet facilities are available for girls and boys Pupils will be roomed in 6-12 bed dormitories with at least one friend
Safety and wellbeing We know how daunting it can be letting your child go on a residential visit, so we do everything we can to make it a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Kingswood’s policies and procedures are designed to make sure they adhere to the highest safety standards at all times: • Continual safety and first aid training for all staff • Regular checks on equipment before and after every activity session • Qualified First-Aider on centre 24/7 All staff are fully DBS checked We have found the best way to help children cope with being away from home is to keep them busy having fun!
The cost The cost of the trip will be approximately £120 per child. This cost is based on 45 children attending, which means the price will decrease as more children choose to attend. The final cost will be confirmed after the first deposit date has passed. The first payment is a non-refundable deposit of £30, payable no later than Thursday 26th October 2017. The remaining balance will be paid over two instalments, with £45 due on or before Friday 12th January 2018 and the final balance (£30 - £45, depending on the overall cost of the trip) due on or before 9th February 2018. If you wish to pay in full rather than instalments you are welcome to do so. Payments can be made in cash to the office or via ParentPay. Please do not send any money in with your child.
