THE Forum The Forum’s Newest Reporter Connecting the Global Villages in One Trusted Source THE Forum This Issue: Only a half pence - Since 500 BCE Editor’s Note1 : As our newest member, please fill in the bio for our readers…. Each item worth 5 points a piece. The Forum’s Newest Reporter Introduce Yourself as an Archetype : (25-50 words.) Hi my name is Rylee Montalvo. I am 14 years old and live in Virginia. I am sort of out going once you get to know me. Based on my personality many would think that I am very confrontational, but that is not me at all. I would much rather stay in the background and not in the spotlight. Introduce Yourself as a Reflective Revisionist (What has revising your writing taught you?) (25-50 words) Hello my name is Rylee Montalvo. Being a reflective revisionist has taught me many things about my self. Many times when I am writing I do not think much about it until I read it over. When I read back I can some times truly see myself and the way I am become more understandable.

Gilgamesh Laments Friend’s Death Editor’s Note 2 (10 points) We need a “Did you know” section to spice up the page. Write two sentences comparing Editor’s Note 3 (10 points) Our readers really want an active and exciting type writing. Alas, our last writer used way too may “be” Guilt Cultures to Shame Cultures. Be sure to use Transitional Words between the sentences. Verbs. Please identify them by Highlighting or underlining them. Editor’s Note 4 (10 points) You know, I think what would really work is if you offer some fixes. Pick five sentences to “fix” and place them in the “Your fixes” column. THE Housie Gazette Not for Publication ROUGH DRAFT ... ROUGH DRAFT.... ROUGH DRAFT.... ROUGH DRAFT Gilgamesh Laments Friend’s Death Did U Know Guilt Cultures To be in a guilt culture mean that you are doing something that you are allowed to do but are morally wrong. In the Epic of Gilgamesh he was allowed to ask for immortality but is was wrong because he disrespected the gods. Shame Cultures In a shame culture it mean that you do something that you are not allowed to do but it seems okay. So if you break the law but it had no effect on anyone you would live in a shame culture. Your fixes Sentence #.......New Sentence Since the wild man has passed away After an adventurous life of an upbringing by wolves… 3. The party boy persona that the king had, seemed to change in that he no longer… 1. The wild man is dead. 2. After an adventurous life of being raised by wolves, finding true love, wrestling with a king to defend the honor of a new bride, the wild man succumbed to a fateful dream and breathed his last. 3. The King, party boy that he was, seemed changed in that he no longer sought out hedonistic pleasures, but began a quest that we will all one day take, the quest for purpose and meaning, for longevity and legacy. 4. Thus, Gilgamesh became what we might call a dynamic character. 5. Let’s give the king props for having a Greek moment of recognition and becoming a better man. 6.The lamentation started by Gilgamesh, a demi-God in his own right, walked through a mountain. 7. Then, due to a Godly denial of his request for eternal life, Gilgamesh traveled to the flood survivor to have a one on one chat. 8. Learning of what became of the human race, Gilgamesh moved on after obtaining some important information about a flower. 9. Being strong and determined, Gilgamesh managed to locate the flower of eternal youth, but lost it to a sea serpent. 10. Finally, the King gave up, returned home, lived out his life, and died.

Strophe / Antistrophe Blind Prophet Right WORKING TITLE: OPTION ALPHA “King Oedipus Bids Farewell” OR OPTION OMEGA “Internal Affairs Takes on New Meaning” Blind Prophet Right Strophe / Antistrophe Strophe (15 points) I agree with this article because, a murder trial does need justice. In the case of Oedipus Rex there is no trial for the murder he committed. The concept of law is to bring justice to everyone. If the person who needs to be brought to justice gets to choose his own fate is that really justice? No it is not, because he could have easily picked the lesser of the two punishments for himself , where he might have given the worse of the two if was another man that killed the king. Anti-Strophe (15 points) I disagree with this article because when Oedipus realized what he had done he immediately punished himself. When he punished himself he even to the worse of the two punishments, exile. Exile meant he would never have a home again. He would never see his children grow up he would always remember what he did. He would have to live with the fact that he drove he wife/mother to suicide. Editor’s Note 5: Using the two small articles to the right, create a point (support for) and a counterpoint (argument against) the following statement. “Because Oedipus Rex is set up as a Murder Trial, the concept of Justice demands punishment, and there should be no mercy for Oedipus Rex.” Be sure to use strong arguments in both pieces, including literary referencing and not mix points. Treat each piece as individual articles. One-Three Paragraphs (50-100 words each)

All Staffers Required to Get a Good Pronoun Lesson Editor’s Note 6: Listen, There’s some serious pronoun abuse going on here. I’ve a presentation when the sun is at midday. Can you just check my presentation notes quickly by marking up these labels. (5 points) and giving samples on the bottom half (5 points) Go to Delphi and the oracle. We know that Oedipus is guilty of murder. It is a day filled with Apollo’s bright sunlight. I guess I’ll have to get to the bottom of this murder mystery myself. Jocasta defied the stars. (Name) Writes Exemplar Essay! Legendary times - Since An Epoch Ago Feature Essay Fully Published in This Edition!!!! (Name) Writes Exemplar Essay! In an incredible celebration on the streets of Hampton Roads, star reporter RyleeMontalvo gathers his/her fan base to share the winning of the Pulitzer Prize for this year’s Best in Essay Writing Category. The topic was daring, and the writing followed all the proper formatting of good essay writing. Said one stunned fan, who managed to squeeze through the huge midnight crowd to catch a glimpse of the newest member of the Pulitzer winners. “I was so excited to be able to be in the same area as him/her. I mean who else could so eloquently support body paragraphs with literary referencing, offering opinion which is never unverified, but also backed up by the contents of the literature (10 points)” Another fan – who cathartically choked up on tears during the interview – was impressed with the outstanding hook that not only attracted the reader to delve into the writing, but also managed to maintain a delicate balance of transitions (10 points). A third bystander, one who camped out on the grounds immediately upon hearing that the famed writer may make a public appearance, respectfully disagreed with the two other fans. “I can appreciate these items, but the genius is in the conclusion, which is not only broad and didactic, but analyzes as well as summarizes. It shows – in one paragraph, mind you – the significance of all the paragraphs that come before it (10 points). Who could not just want to live life just a little bit stronger after reading such beautiful words?” And the winner is…. Full Text! When considering two characters studied thus far in class, find the similarities and differences of the characters in the following categories: Ethics, Wisdom of Action, and Motivation. After viewing these categories would you say that the two characters share the same archetype? Why or why not? In the story The epic of Gilgamesh the main character Gilgamesh was trying to find eternal life. He was not a completely moral man nor was he smart. He asked of the god to give him eternal life. This was very rude because he was saying that he was just as good as any god which meant that he should have eternal life. This was not smart because he has now angered the gods and now they will try to seek vengeance on him. But none the less he was pointed to a diffident man who had been given eternal life after surviving a flood. This man told him of decorum. A flower that could give him eternal life. With bravado Gilgamesh went to retrieve this flower.

After blanking the first end, Sweden opened the scoring with a hit to score two points in the second end. The teams then swapped singles all the way to the seventh end. In the eighth end, with Sweden leading by 4-3, Muirhead drew nicely onto the button with her second stone and, in trying to winkle it out, Sweden's fourth player Maria Prytz wrecked on a front guard, giving Scotland a steal of two and the lead for the first time in the game, at 5-4. Sweden blanked the ninth end to retain last stone advantage in the tenth. The Scots seemed to have that end under control until Muirhead had a pick-up with her first stone, which gave Sweden a chance. Even at that, Muirhead played a near-perfect freeze with her last, but Prytz was able to tap it out, as Sweden scored three for their win. After the game Swedish skip and lead player Margaretha Sigfridsson, said, "that was a fantastic game and it feels so good to win. It was only the eighth end that was not so good from our side. It was so close, we touched so many guards in that end and Eve got to steal two. But we thought we still had a good chance to win the game and we thought it was so our game." . RESULTS Session 20: Scotland 5, Sweden 7. Session 19: USA 7, Switzerland 4. Session 18: Russia 6, Switzerland 7.
