Number

Prime Numbers These numbers can only be divided by one and themselves 2 can be divided by 1 and 2 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19 1 is not a prime number because it can only be divided by 1

Factors These are numbers that you can divide your number by For example the factors of 4 is 1, 2 and 4 What are the factors of 12? 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 What are the factors of 21? 1, 3, 7, 21

Multiples These are the numbers that can be reached by doing times tables The multiples of 10 are 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 etc. What are the multiples of 6? 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48 etc

Square Numbers These numbers are achieved by multiplying a number by itself It can be used to find area 2 squared is 4 2 x 2= 4 What is 1 squared? 1 x 1= 1 What is 9 squared? 81

Cubed Numbers These numbers are achieved by multiplying a number by itself three times It can be used to find volume 3 cubed is 3 x 3 x 3= 27 What is 2 cubed? 2 x 2 x 2= 8 What is 10 cubed? 10 x 10 x 10= 1,000

Changing length into area A square that is 3 cm long has an area of 3 squared 3 x 3= 9cm² A football pitch that is 100m long has an area of 10, 000 m² What is the area of a square that is 5 cm long? 25cm²

Changing length into volume A cube that is 5 cm long has a volume of 125cm³ To change 10 cm into 10 cm³ you have to cube 10 10 x 10 x 10 = 1,000cm³
