Suggestions for Next Steps More detail on what the network will do Agree on “guiding principles” to help create a shared understanding among members as to what the network is trying to achieve and their role and responsibility as members Define success criteria & set some bold objectives in areas where we want to achieve improved outcomes

Possible roles/ priority areas of attention for the network Organise conferences of training experts to facilitate communication and collaboration Provide a portal to quality information and resources provided by network members (courses, resources, member details, tools) Set standards for training materials and put a “quality stamp” on training resources so they can be used with confidence Facilitate establishment of shared e-learning infrastructure Support coordination of regional components of international training initiatives

Guiding Principles ..help create a shared understanding among members as to what the network is trying to achieve and their role and responsibility as members

Possible Guiding Principles All members agree that by collaborating, sharing and communicating we will increase statistical training capacity, quality and effectiveness Membership of the network will be open to all agencies engaged in statistical training (providers and users) which agree to the principles of the network Network Members should, according to their capacity, actively contribute to a shared stock of training resources. They will publish (in standard formats) timely information about courses, and shareable resources Training resources which bear the “network brand” must be good quality (fit for use, compliant with standards) and able to be used with confidence by all users.

Possible Guiding Principles (cont.) Access to statistical training opportunities and resources should be transparent and equitable Free and frank feedback and exchange of information about quality of courses and resources should be encouraged The standards, processes, membership of the network should be visible Something about Fit with other networks Something about a focus on serving the needs of countries with developing statistical training capacity

Possible bold objectives Create a library of shared , quality assured, resources covering 10 popular course titles and have them widely used in more than 10 countries within 3 years Establish e-learning infrastructure which is actively used by more than 10 countries in 3 years
