About the Parent Council What is a Parent Council (PC)? A Parent Council is a body which: enables parents to meet, share ideas and feed back to the school gives parents a voice and enables them to contribute to school decision making helps develop a partnership between parents and school consults parents and advises the school leadership and/or governing body of parents’ views. promote ideas and activities where families and children can learn and have fun together. Why have a PC? When parents are involved children and young people shine and achieve. Schools are most effective when they develop positive relationships with parents and the community they serve. Do you want to make sure that all parents have a say in their children’s education and are able to express their views and wishes? It is so important to support our school!

Are you interested? You can help you are a parent: Because parents are important and make a real difference to children’s learning It doesn’t matter how old you are or what you job is your child needs your support in their education. By joining in you may develop new skills by working with everyone involved in school life: parents, students, teachers, school staff and governors. How can you help? Your thoughts, ideas and questions are important: Think how can the Parent Council support the communications? Think how can we work with the school to achieve its objectives? What are the school objectives? ……. How can we promote / help parents learn with their child? Think who do you contact to get your ideas for school heard? Please turn over page:
