Volunteers (Mar 2016) Key Points Only age and gender diversity data is held at present for volunteers but this will be expanded in the future The split of male and female volunteers is roughly equal at 52.6% male and 47.4% female The average age of volunteers is 44 The largest category of volunteers is females aged 21-29 (15.8%) There is a greater age diversity amongst volunteers than employees

KFRS Compared with National Fire Service Averages (2015/2016) Key Points At 4.5% the percentage of female firefighters in KFRS is slightly below the national average of 5% The percentage of women in KFRS Support and Control roles at 57% is higher than the national average of 55% The total female representation at KFRS is similar to the national average Bisexual/Gay/Lesbian representation in fire services remains low nationally at 3%; at KFRS it is less than this at 2% Key Points KFRS Firefighters are marginally older than nationally with 42.5% compared with 40% aged over 46 The average age of KFRS Firefighters at 42 is marginally higher than the national average of 41 KFRS has 45% of all staff aged over 46 compared to 41% nationally The percentage of ethnic minority Firefighters in KFRS is lower than the national average Religious representation at KFRS is broadly similar to the national average
