Mysteries of the Nazca Civilization

The Pre Inca Nazca culture appeared from 200AD to 600AD The Nazca people are very unknown but extremely accomplished and advanced. Some believe that the Nazca didn’t have any written record at all. Others think Nazca people were aided by ancient aliens. The Nazca People

The Nazca Lines Located in Southern Peru, scientists and others have found over 700 hieroglyphs and counting stretching over 50 miles of land in Peru. These lines are carved into the desert and can only be seen from the sky. They’re drawn into lighter colored strata which contrasts with darker gravels on the plain. Some 700 geoglyphs are thought to have been drawn by the ancient Nazca people between the first and sixth centuries.

The Nazca Lines All of the drawings were said to have been drawn using a single line, that never crosses itself, and were believed to be an appeal to the gods to bring rain. In general terms, the geoglyphs fall into two categories: 1. natural objects, such as animals, birds and insects 2. lines and shapes such as spirals, triangles and rectangles.

The Nazca Lines Archaeological surveys have found wooden stakes in the ground at the end of some lines, which support the theory the ancient people used simple tools and surveying equipment to construct the lines - It would have taken them years upon years to create these!

The Nazca Lines WHO WERE THEY MADE FOR? They were first spotted from the air in 1939 when a pilot flew over the Nazca region of the Peruvian coastal highlands. The huge images, which include hundreds of animals and complex mazes in the Nazca desert, can only clearly be seen from the air WHO WERE THEY MADE FOR?

The Nazca Lines The mystery about why they were created has been debated for decades: One theory is that the geoglyphs are connected in some way to water. For example, a triangular geoglyph at the bottom of the Cerro Blanco mountain runs along the water veins inside the mountain The condor geoglyph is linked to local legend, which states that when the condor flies over the mountain, ‘great rains follow’ The ‘hummingbird’ geoglyph only appears in the summer following heavy rainfall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKOebS_oWn0 Start at 1:07

Flattened Mountain Scientists and researchers all agree that the mountain top seems to have been flattened or removed. Some believe that it was made to be a landing strip for flying craft, others think that it was erosion.

Trophy heads The Nazca people would often collect “trophy heads”, which involved them tightly wrapping cloth around infants heads, causing them to be elongated and deformed. DO THESE HEAD SHAPES REMIND YOU OF ANYTHING?

For hundreds of years researchers have been baffled by what these spirals were used for. But, recently, using Google satellite images, some researchers believe they found the answer: http://www.techinsider.io/mysterious- ancient-holes-in-peru-solved-2016-4 Spirals

What do you think? Were the Nazca people ahead of their time? Did they have help from / were they in contact with extraterrestrial beings? Why did they create designed lines that are only visible from the air? Why did they flatten mountain tops?
