Photographers & their style of work @leonallenmedia

Photographer : Christopher killip Christopher was born in Douglas, Isle of Man in the year 1946. Leaving school at the age of 16 years old and began working as a trainee hotel manager however as years grew on in 1964, Christopher decided to pursue his passion in photography and aimed to become a full time beach photographer in order to earn enough money so he can leave his hometown. Since this, in October 1964 he was hired as the third assistant to the leading London advertising photographer, Adrian Flowers. Also working as a freelance assistant for various photographers in London from 1966-69. After Christopher attended his first debut exhibition of photography at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Christopher returned to the Isle of Man, working in his father’s pub at night and returning to London to print his work. Once on a return visit to the United States of America in 1971, Lee Witkin, a New York gallery owner commissioned a limited edition portfolio of the Isle of Man work, paying for it in advance so Christopher could continue to photograph also in 1972 Christopher received commission from the Arts Council of Great Britain. PHOTOGRAPHER : Daidō Moriyama Daido Moriyama (森山 大道) a Japanese Photographer born on October 10, 1938. Daido was noble for images that were depicting traditional lifestyle values in post-war Japan. Living Ikeda, Osaka where he lived and studied photography for a proportion of his life before moving Tokyo in 1961. Working as an assistant to a photographer & filmmaker Eikoh Hosoe, from this experience Daido produced a collection of photographs in the album ‘Nippon gekijō shashinchō’ which reflected on the darker side of Japan life, capturing many elements of urban street life in comparison to other areas which were high industrially modernised. Daido once received the Infinity Award for lifetime achievement from the International Center of Photography in New York.
