FEAR GOD AND DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU 传道书 ECCLESIATES 12 Tom Collin

WHY FEAR GOD AND DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU? BECAUSE: I. HE IS GOD.

WHY FEAR GOD AND DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU? BECAUSE: I. HE IS GOD. II. LIFE PASSES QUICKLY.

PSALM 39:4-6: “Show me O LORD, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath. Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro: He bustles about, but only in vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it.”

WHY FEAR GOD AND DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU? BECAUSE: III. IT MAKES THE WORLD SAFE FOR YOUR CHILDREN. PROVERBS 14:26: “The fear of God builds up confidence, and makes a world safe for your children.”

DR. JAMES DOBSON: “Most importantly, I urge you to hold your children before the Lord in fervent prayer throughout their years at home. I am convinced that there is no other source of confidence and wisdom in parenting. There is not enough knowledge in the books, mine or anyone else’s, to counteract the evil that surrounds our kids today.”

WHY FEAR GOD AND DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU? BECAUSE: IV. THERE IS A HELL AND A HEAVEN. 1. HELL OLD TESTAMENT: “SHEOL” means “go down” or “to be brought down” It indicates: THE FARTHEREST POINT FROM HEAVEN.

LUKE 16:19: “there was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.” THE MAN WHO NEVER NOTICED.

I JOHN 3:16-18: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life or us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”

V. 20-21: “At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.” PHARISEES believed WEALTH was a sign of god’s blessing. POVERTY was a sign of God’s disapproval. LAZARUS in Hebrew means: “GOD IS MY HELP.”

V. 22: “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side (HEAVEN). The rich man also died and was buried.”

V. 23-24: “In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’” In HELL THE RICH MAN could SEE, HEAR, TALK, FEEL, AND COMPREHEND.

V. 25: “But Abraham replied, ‘Son remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a GREAT CHASM has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.”

THERE WILL BE NO SECOND CHANCES AFTER DEATH!
