Presentation transcript:

AS Fine Art Introduction Summer Project As part of your introductory course to A level Art you need to explore Exhibition spaces in and around London. London is a global centre for contemporary Art

a minimum of 2 Art Galleries in London AS Fine Art Your task You are going to create a report in the form of a Power Point. The report is to document and inform others about your visit to a minimum of 2 Art Galleries in London You will make a 5 minute (max) presentation to the group on return to school in the first week in your Art lesson There is a list on the next slide.

You can select from these suggestions OR you can also find further Gallery spaces and current exhibitions by going to the web site of ‘’TIME OUT’’ – a culture/arts/events site and magazine; Tate Modern Tate Britain The Hayward Gallery The Saatchi Gallery The Royal Academy of Arts Whitechapel Gallery The Museum of Kinetic Arts The Barbican Arts Centre The National Gallery The National Portrait Gallery The Serpentine Gallery

Visit Gallery webs site for what’s on. You can also find areas where there is a high number of smaller commercial galleries; East castle street (off Oxford Street). Cork street (near New Bond Street). Visit Gallery webs site for what’s on. Almost all these galleries are free.

It is up to you to do decide the content of the report It is up to you to do decide the content of the report. But you do need to include the following; A name and image of the Gallery A ‘selfie’ of you’ outside the gallery. Photograph your selection of ‘artworks’. Some galleries allow this - some do not – make sure you ask for permission before photographing work. You can copy and paste from the web site of the Gallery. Current exhibition work is often posted. A ‘’personal’’ response to the selected artworks in YOUR OWN WORDS next to your image. Some brief factual information about the artist(s) methods and or motivation for the work. Most artists have their own web site. A general summary of the atmosphere/type of space which could be description based on experience in the building/architecture etc.

See next slide for images Advise for the Power point; You can use ‘prompts cards’. Do not put too much text on each slide 1 image per slide. Group images if you want to make a point by making cross reference or links. Design your PPP to look professional. Take creative high quality photographs that have impact. Angles/abtracts. Make it interesting both visually and content wise. See next slide for images
