Strategies for test taking Test prep ideas for the act aspire

The night before the big test Go to bed on time. Put a few #2 pencils with erasers in your backpack. Don’t go to bed angry or upset. Talk to your parents about your concerns.

The morning of the Test Start your day as you normally do. Eat a healthy breakfast. Have a positive attitude. Take deep breaths if you get nervous. Relax.

How to answer multiple choice questions… Read the question and ALL answer choices before marking an answer. Eliminate wrong answers first. Make educated guesses if you are unsure of the correct answers. Don’t guess blindly. Pay attention to key words that will help you choose the correct answer.

Hints for reading passages Read the questions before you read the passage. This will help you understand what is required of you. Look for clues in other questions that will help you when you are unsure.

Hints for math computations Double check your work. Line up place values correctly. If your answer doesn’t match one of the choices, re-read the problem and try again.

Pace yourself Don’t spend too much time on one problem. Answer the easiest questions first. Go back over answers if you have time. Don’t worry. Keep a positive attitude.

Final tips Fill in bubbles fully and neatly. Make sure you are on the right problem in your answer documents. Don’t hold your pencil too tightly. Relax. Stay calm.

Remember it is okay not to know everything Remember it is okay not to know everything. Some questions may be difficult. Don’t give up. Keep a positive attitude. You will succeed!

Do your best and nothing less!
