Reporting Requirements and Systems Federal statutes, regulations, and guidance on data collection and reporting are found in Section 1303(e), Section 1304(c)(7) and (e) of the ESEA STARS has a migrant “flag” and provides state assessment data MAPS documents the services provided to migrant students MSIX is the Federal database used for electronic transfer of student records because of migrant students’ mobility. It allows states to share education and health information

Priority For MEP Services (PFS) In providing services with funds received under this part, each recipient of such funds shall give priority to migratory children who have made a qualifying move within the previous 1-year period and who— (1) are failing, or most at risk of failing, to meet the challenging State academic standards; or (2) have dropped out of school. Title I, Part C, Section 1304(d) of ESSA

STARS and MAPS STARS data comes from MAPS MAPS requires a SSID for each child on COE Program facts template Migrant student template STARS will always have equal or less students than MAPS STARS migrant data is validated each counting period

Best practice of data exchange Get list from District Migrant Coordinator Enter students into Student Information System After September 1 determine whether the TIC students are still enrolled in the district. Send STARs migrant report to the Migrant coordinators Clear up discrepancies between lists Share secondary coursework with migrant coordinator

Do all Migrant Students need a unique ID or only the students that are served in grades Pre K - 12? All Migrant students require a unique ID and be entered in your student information system and have the TIC program code in field 5 of the program fact template. All children that are identified on the migrant family’s certificate of eligibility must have a unique ID, including children birth – 2 and Out of School Youth of any age, including those 18-21.

Evaluation Reporting: Assessments Short Cycle Assessment Results Completed by site directors Collects results for reading and math Compares results for two short cycle scores in each subject Scores are compared to see if there is average scale growth

Evaluation Reporting: Director Report Director Report is new beginning in 2016-17 Records results for 7 Measurable Program Outcomes Directors will use supporting documents on the following slide to complete the report

Evaluation Reporting: Supporting Documents Next Step Plan - Completed at the students’ schools - MEP staff review the plan with the students to determine whether or not they are on track to graduation Parent Contact and Youth Referral Log - Completed by staff in conversation with parents and youth - Determines services needed and tracks services provided (including referrals) Student Assessment Score Sheet - Completed by staff for secondary students and OSY participating in life skills lessons - Download lessons and assessments from osymigrant.org
