Let’s take a look in at Genesis 1:1 1. The Plural Word for God In Hebrew, the generic word for “god” is El. The plural is Elohim. The Bible uses Elohim when talking about YHWH, the God of Israel. When the Bible uses Elohim (pl.,) it uses a singular verb Interesting, plural subject but singular verb….hmm… El= god Elohim= gods Let’s take a look in at Genesis 1:1
