Objective: We will identify facts and opinions.

Prior Knowledge: What do you think? We know about colors. What is your favorite color? That is an example of what we think. What color is this shirt? This shirt is purple. This is true. We can tell the difference between what is true and what people might think. This will help us learn today.

Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between facts and opinions. A fact is true. An opinion is what someone might think. Everyone could think something different. Concept

Deciding if a sentence is a fact If you can find that it is real or true, then it is a fact. Concept

Read these sentences: 1. Rabbits eat carrots. 2. George Washington was the first president of the United States. 3. The flag is red, white and blue. 4. There are books in the library. Are these sentences facts? Yes, all of these sentences are true. Concept
