Myers-Briggs Personality Test Westport Middle School Advisory Lesson

What is the Myers-Briggs Test? It is a test that helps you determine your personality type. You rate yourself in a series of questions to determine your preferences. It may help you determine how you can get along with different people better. Many corporations use personality tests to see what kind of worker someone might be.

No type is better than another, just different. Guidelines: No type is better than another, just different. You aren’t “stuck” as one personality type. You may change as you grow up. Your personality type should never be used as an excuse for bad behavior. No one type is better than another, just different Everyone uses all type preferences at times One preference is favored on each scale Scores indicate clarity/consistency of choice, not strength or skill in using the preference Psychological type can explain some human behavior—not all Type should never be used as an excuse for behavior

Your Turn! Take a version of the Myers-Briggs test for teenagers. Read each statement and reflect on if it applies to your personality and preferences. Rank how strongly you agree with each statement. Find the total for each category. Determine your personality type. When you have it, ask for a description of your personality type. It will tell you the strengths and weaknesses of each type.
