Geraldine Water Solutions Nick Ward Chairman Orari-Temuka-Opihi-Pareora Zone Committee 21st November 2016

Geraldine Water Solutions (GWS) Farmer initiated group – consent holders from the Temuka to the Rangitata Prompted by changes to the Orari flow and allocation regime in the LWRP and potential changes to the Temuka flow and allocation regime Investigating the opportunity to bring water from the North (Klondyke or Lake Coleridge) to Increase reliability Provide replacement supply Small increase irrigated area

Aims of GWS Facilitate improved understanding of potential future supply risks. Coordinate with other catchments Work collaboratively with ECan Distribute info to farmers in smaller pod group meetings Raise capital for a full feasibility study. Increase awareness of farmer regulatory requirements.

Progress Demand Study Two farmer meetings Next step 9,500 irrigated hectares that had potential for irrigation. 82% would consider ‘top up’ reliability water 35% would consider total replacement supply 37% would consider additional supply Two farmer meetings Next step Smaller ‘pod’ meetings around the catchments
