What is Career & Education Planning? Orientation, Self Knowledge Discovery, Exploration, Decision Making, Action, Adaptation A continuous, lifelong process of exploration and planning of career and educational goals compatible with your interests, values, talents, personality and aspirations.

Your Life Plan As you plan your career you should consider the big picture…your life plan. Your career decisions will dramatically impact your lifestyle. Where you live Your income Time at home Your work hours Your travels Job security Your work associates Your choice of friends Your leisure time

Interesting Facts 60% of Entering Freshmen have NOT decided on a major. In 1973, 28% of U.S. jobs required a college degree. In 2018, 63% of jobs will require a degree (with MA leading the nation with 70%). Only 14% of U.S. workers say they are employed in their dream careers. 80% of people are NOT working in the field that they have received their degree in. This is another option for an overview using transitions to advance through several slides.

Career Myths Discussion Career testing will tell me what career is right for me. There is a perfect career for me. I’ll pursue whatever career is in demand. If I make the wrong decision, I’ll be stuck forever. I know everything I need to know about the career of my choice.
