The CLIMIT Programme The Norwegian RD&D Programme for CCS Vision: Accelerate the commercialisation of CCS by financial stimulation of research, development and demonstration” Administrated by Gassnova and the Research Council of Norway (RCN) The CLIMIT programme is the Norwegian RD&D programme for CCS The vision is to Accelerate the commercialisation of CCS by financial stimulation of research, development and demonstration” The programme is administrated by Gassnova and the Research Council. The Research Council is responsible for R&D activities, often referred to as CLIMIT-R&D, while Gassnova is responsible for pilots and demonstration activities in CLIMIT-Demo. Norway has a very good budget for RD&D related to CCS, and the annual budget is 12.5 million euro for CLIMIT-RnD and 11.5 million euro for demonstration activities.

Centres for Environment-friendly Energy Research Norwegian CCS Research Centre - NCCS Norwegian Research Centre for Hydropower Technology - HydroCen Centre for intelligent electricity distribution – CINELDI Centre for an Energy Efficient and Competitive Industry for the Future - HighEFF The Research Centre on Zero Energy Neighbourhoods in Smart Cities – ZEN Centre Mobility Zero Emission Energy Systems - MoZEES Research Centre for Sustainable Solar Cell Technology Norwegian Centre for Sustainable Bio-based Fuels and Energy - Bio4Fuel The Research Council of Norway has granted funding to eight new Centres for Environment-friendly Energy Research (FME). Each new centre is guaranteed an annual allocation of NOK 15‒25 million (2,5-4,5 mill Singapore Dollar) ( for up to eight years.) The eight new FME centres will start up in 2017. The centres will work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Norway and internationally, utilise energy more efficiently, and increase the production of renewable energy. Another important task for the centres is to disseminate the results of their research and contribute to a knowledge-based debate on environment-friendly energy. The FME centres span the areas of hydropower, smart grids, energy efficiency in trade and industry, environment-friendly transport, CO2 management (CCS), solar cells, biofuels and zero-emission urban zones. The total annual allocations from the Research Council to the FME centres will be roughly NOK 160 million. Several of these Research Centres are present here on this workshop. The research centres are: A targeted initiative where the best Norwegian communities participating Strengthening the efforts in areas where Norway has special advantages Strengthening cooperation between research, education and business Spearheads of international research

Petroleum research PETROMAKS 2 DEMO2000 From basic research, through collaborative and industrial research until demonstration and piloting. Two programs that fulfill each other in an optimal way. Knowledge creation and industrial development to secure optimal management of Norwegian petroleum resources within an environmentally sustainable framework. Most important targets: Reduce climate gas emissions, reduce costs and improve resource utilization (That implies improved recovery from existing fields and improved exploration) Basic research Collaborative and industrial research Demonstration and piloting PETROMAKS 2 DEMO2000
