INTRODUCTION Use of “Plastic Bags” banned in some states in India To control pollution to the environment by the use of plastic bags, several states in the country have banned the use of plastic bags as listed below:- Karnataka Maharashtra, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himanchal Pradesh, Goa and West Bengal. Plastic ban in karnataka. The State Government on March 11 issued an official gazette notification stating a complete and total ban on plastic and all plastics in the State. The notification makes specific mention that plastic, no matter its thickness, will be banned across the State.

The notification cites: "No shopkeeper, vendor, wholesale dealer, retailer, trader, hawker or salesman shall use plastic carry bags, plastic banners, plastic buntings, flex, plastic flags, plastic plates, plastic cups, plastic spoons, cling films and plastic sheets for spreading on dinning table irrespective of thickness including the above items made of thermacol and plastic which use plastic micro beeds.“ Effects of plastic ban in karnataka by government is a good move taken by government. Karnataka capital banglore which was well known as garden city has became garbage city in recent years due to vast increase in use of plastic and bad environment conditions . The government stressed that it imposed the ban while taking into account the use of plastic on a daily basis, and allowing it would result in further environmental complications. It further said that by further allowing the use of plastic, Bengaluru would become a city of plastic waste. Thus it was the right time to ban the plastic which would help to overcome the problems.

Main reasons for plastic ban There is a growing concern about the disposal of Plastic bags since it’s manufacture and disposal is very harmful to the society Burning plastic is causing irreversible damage to our health by raising air pollution levels and pumping carcinogens into our air. Plastic bags are responsible for contaminating water bodies, choking drains and adding to landfills, which cause water logging during the monsoon season. Stray animals either choke and die by consuming plastics littered on the roads. Quality of plastics degrades after a period of time, thereby making it a dangerous commodity when used with food items. The plastic ban in Karnataka is a major step in Swachch Bharat Abhiyan by the Central Government. It remains to be seen if there is a considerable improvement in environment in the state, following this move. If all states ban plastic bags it would be great move as it supports swachch bharat abhiyan which is main moto of central government.

Objective The main objective of my survey is to know the people opinion regarding the ban of plastic bags in the state. Mainly I concentrated my research on what are the main effects of ban of plastic on the public as well as environment.

Methodology: The different methodologies that I used to collect data are as follows- 1. I have done survey from different age group people for collection of primary data. 2. I used net to collect information regarding ban of plastics and its main concept. 3.I used emails and whatsapp to send my survey questionnaire links. 4. I also got secondary data from google. The fieldwork include process of getting the questionnaires filled up and Also getting all the relevent informatiom regarding opinions of general public for my analysis.

Sample: I have chosen respondents as different age group people which is easy for my survey. Sample size I have chosen = 30

Survey on ban of plastic bags- I am a student of alliance university, conducting a research on effects of ban of plastic bags. I have a set of question which i would like you to answer and help me in my survey. The collected information will be kept confidential. Conclusion. 80% of total respondents support to the act of ban of plastic bags in state. 40% of people agreed that society has enough information about the dangers of plastic bags. Nearly 80% of people said that rate of consumption of plastic bags has been frequently reduced after the ban. More than 50% of people wishes that grocery stores should charge between Rs1 to 5 for each plastic bags they sell. Nearly 50% of people using paper bags , 35% of people plastic bags , and remaining reusable bags. Here we observe that plastic use reduced more than 50%. Nearly 90% of people rated 5 or 4 out of 5 regarding the government move of plastic ban. 65% of population agreed ban of plastic bags would help to improve environmental condition in state. FROM ABOVE INFORMATION WE CAN SAY THAT PEOPLE ARE POSITIVE TOWARDS THE EFFECT , THEY WISH TO BAN IN ALL STATES IN COUNTRY.

RECOMMENDATIONS Plastic grocery bags are not free. The cost of using plastic bags results in higher prices at the checkout counter. Retailer's can save on cost if consumers bring their own reusable bags. So it is highly advisable to government that to ban plastic in every states in the country. Whenever we use plastic bags it is effecting the wildlife by polluting water and land , which should be immediately stopped as saving wildlife is very important to every country. Plastic bags are made from non-renewable sources which requires petroleum , it uses energy and pollute the environment. The best alternative to using plastic bags is not to use any bag at all. The next best alternative is using reusable bags and biodegradable bags. There is a wide range of reusable shopping bags available from retailers which are not harmful to environment. There is low recycling rate in case of plastic bags, so when it is wasted it creates environmental pollution in one or the other way. So when we think from benefits, for the welfare of the society and good environmental condition , it is a much needed decision to ban plastic bags everywhere and people must welcome the government acts.
