Psalm 91:1-6, 14-16 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. My Refuge & Fortress

My Refuge & Fortress My Refuge & Fortress Psalms 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. We all know this. Everyone pays lip service to it. We dutifully wish it on others. What does it mean when we say that the Lord is my Refuge and Fortress? More importantly, how do we appropriate it? Provide you a handle that you can hold on and apply it in your Christian journey especially in times of crisis. My Refuge & Fortress

1. God is with You My Refuge & Fortress Sometimes when we experience troubles, we think that God has left us. Job 2:9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. Yet throughout the ordeals of Job and his wife, God was actively with them and limiting the devil. Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. My Refuge & Fortress 1. God is with You

2. God will Protect You My Refuge & Fortress 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Job 1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. My Refuge & Fortress 1. God is with You 2. He will Protect You

3. God will Prosper You My Refuge & Fortress Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Genesis 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Job 42:12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. Hebrews 11:39-40 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. My Refuge & Fortress 1. God is with You 2. He will Protect You 3. He will Prosper You

Conclusion As Christians, we can receive whatever our lot may be - with joy, confidence and thanksgiving. Hebrews 12:10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Luke 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. My Refuge & Fortress 1. God is with You 2. He will Protect You 3. He will Prosper You 4. Conclusion: Receive whatever Your lot with joy, confidence and thanksgiving

Take Home Passages My Refuge & Fortress Book of Job. 2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Philippians 4:12-13 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. My Refuge & Fortress 1. God is with You 2. He will Protect You 3. He will Prosper You 4. Conclusion: Receive whatever Your lot with joy, confidence and thanksgiving
