Mathematics Types of Triangles
There are two ways to classify triangles 1. One way to classify triangles is by looking at the length of their sides. 2. Another way to classify triangles is by looking at the angles.
Equilateral Triangles An equilateral triangle is a triangle with all three sides of equal length. Equilateral triangles are also equilangular. (all angles the same)
Isosceles Triangles An isosceles triangle is a triangle with two equal sides.
Scalene Triangles A scalene triangle is a triangle with three unequal sides.
Classifying Triangles by their angles If a triangle has a angle that measures 90 degrees then it’s a right triangle. Here is an example of a right triangle
Classifying Triangles by their Angles If you have a triangle that has one obtuse angle or a angle that measures more than 90 degrees then you have an obtuse triangle. Here is an example of a obtuse triangle
Classifying Triangles by their Angles If all the angles of a triangle are less than 90 degrees then the triangle is an acute triangle. Here is an example of a Acute triangle
The sum of the interior angles of a triangle is 180 degrees. Examples: Find the missing angle: 70 50 x x 42
