The Nitrogen Cycle Zachary Wesley

The Nitrogen Cycle is the process that Nitrogen goes through. During the cycle nitrogen is chemically modified all through the cycle. Also all through the cycle the nitrogen needs bacteria for the cycle to carry on.

What are the stages to the Nitrogen? Stage 1 The first stage happens when the nitrogen falls to the soil with water thanks to condensation. If the nitrogen falls near a plant, when it is sinking it will come across a type of bacteria. The bacteria will combine it with hydrogen and make ammonia.

Stage 2 of the nitrogen cycle. Ammonia is pretty toxic. Since it is toxic, plants would die if used. So the bacteria needs to fix it, that is called “Nitrogen Fixation.” Than other bacteria come and mix it with other organic compounds to make it usable for plants.

Stage three in the Nitrogen Cycle. The plants suck in and use the nitrogen compounds.

Continue to Stage three When animals and humans eat the plant the gain nitrogen into the body. You see, we can’t just breath in nitrogen and suddenly bring it to work in our bodys. We need to eat plants to get nitrogen. We release the nitrogen when our bodies decompose.

Dictionary Nitrogen - noun, Chemistry. 1. a colorless, odorless, gaseous element that constitutes about four-fifths of the volume of the atmosphere and is present in combined form in animal and vegetable tissues, especially in proteins: used chiefly in the manufacture of ammonia, nitric acid, cyanide, explosives, fertilizer, dyes, as a cooling agent, etc. Symbol: N; atomic weight: ; atomic number: 7; density: g/l at 0°C and 760 mm pressure.
