Reasons for War Iraq may have been hiding weapons of mass destruction and a secret illegal weapons technology facility. Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, threatening the flow of oil out of the middle east into U.S. and other foreign markets. Iraq was allegedly harboring terrorists of the Al Qaida. Saddam Hussein was a ruthless dictator that killed many of his own people, and used gas to do some of this work. The gas he used was illegal in the rules of war set by the U.N.

Economic Costs of the War Total government costs in the U.S. so far moneywise are 713 billion dollars. Total cost of the war moneywise for Schenectady county so far is 500 million. There was no sources to figure out the cost of the war in Iraq for the Iraqi people, but my guess is that it’s pretty high….
