*HYMN NO. 386

Verse 1 Take my life and let it be Con-se-crat-ed Lord, to Thee; Take my hands and let them move At the im-pulse of Thy love, At the im-pulse of Thy love.

Verse 2 Take my feet and let them be Swift and beau-ti-ful for Thee; Take my voice and let me sing Al-ways, on-ly, for my King, Al-ways, on-ly, for my King.

Verse 3 Take my lips, and let them be Filled with mes-sa-ges for Thee; Take my sil-ver and my gold, Not a mite would I with-hold, Not a mite would I with-hold.

Verse 4 Take my love, my God, I pour At Thy feet its treas-ure store; Take my-self and I will be Ev-er, only, all for Thee, Ev-er, only, all for Thee.

*Prayer of Invocation

God, we know you will come to us and give us what is good. Let your glory till the landscape of our hearts so that it will yield an increase of love for you. Speak peace to us, your faithful, and to all who yearn for you.

Like Hosea of old, help us to be willing to do as you ask, that we may rejoice to be children of the living God. For we know that as we ask, it will be given and as we knock, the door will be opened to us. Come, bring your goodness to us your children. Amen

Hebrew Scripture Psalm 85 Prayer for the Restoration of God’s Favor

To the leader. Of the Korahites. A Psalm. L ORD, you were favourable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people; you pardoned all their sin.

Selah You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger. Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation towards us. Will you be angry with us for ever?

Will you prolong your anger to all generations? Will you not revive us again, so that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O L ORD, and grant us your salvation.

Let me hear what God the L ORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts. Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him,

that his glory may dwell in our land. Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground,

and righteousness will look down from the sky. The L ORD will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him, and will make a path for his steps.

HYMN NO. 251, vss 1, 2 & 4

Verse 1 On a hill far a-way stood an old rug-ged cross, The em-blem of suf-fering and shame; And I love that old cross where the dear-est and best For a world of lost sin-ners was slain.

Refrain So I’ll cher-ish the old rug-ged cross, Till my tro-phies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rug-ged cross, And ex-change it some day for a crown.

Verse 2 O that old rug-ged cross, So de-spised by the world, Has a won-drous at-trac-tion for me; For the dear Lamb of God left His glo-ry a-bove To bear it to dark Cal-va-ry.

Refrain So I’ll cher-ish the old rug-ged cross, Till my tro-phies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rug-ged cross, And ex-change it some day for a crown.

Verse 4 To the old rug-ged cross I will ev-er be true, Its shame and re-proach glad-ly bear; Then He’ll call me some day To my home far a-way, Where His glo-ry for-ev-er I’ll share.

Refrain So I’ll cher-ish the old rug-ged cross, Till my tro-phies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rug-ged cross, And ex-change it some day for a crown.

Acts 3: 1-10 Peter Heals a Crippled Beggar SERMON SCRIPTURE

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, at three o’clock in the afternoon. And a man lame from birth was being carried in. People would lay him daily at the

gate of the temple called the Beautiful Gate so that he could ask for alms from those entering the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms.

Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, ‘Look at us.’ And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, ‘I have no silver or gold, but

what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk.’ And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.

Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. All the people saw him walking and praising God, and they recognized

him as the one who used to sit and ask for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*HYMN NO. 496 ‘O Jesus I Have Promised’

Verse 1 O Je-sus, I have prom-ised To serve Thee to the end; Be Thou for-ev-er near me, My Mas-ter and my Friend:

I shall not fear the bat-tle If Thou art by my side, Nor wan-der from the path-way If Thou wilt be my guide.

Verse 2 O let me feel Thee near me, The world is ev-er near; I see the sights that daz-zle, The tempt-ing sounds I hear:

My foes are ev-er near me, A-round me and with-in; But, Je-sus, draw Thou near-er, And shield my soul from sin.

Verse 3 O Je-sus,Thou hast prom-ised To all who fol-low Thee, That where Thou art in glo-ry, There shall Thy serv-ant be;

And, Je-sus, I have promised To serve Thee to the end; O give me grace to fol-low, My Mas-ter and my friend. A-men.
