THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO Island of Monte Cristo

Captain Leclerc died. The ship stopped at Elba because it was captain Leclerc’s last order, Dantes gave a letter to Marshal Bertrand On the island, Napoleon spoke to Dantes, he wanted to buy the ship. The ship, Pharaoh, came into Marseilles. Morrel named Dantes captain of the ship..Dantes went to visited his father and Mercedes. I name you Captain!

The father lent money to his neighbor Caderousse while Dantes was gone. Dantes saw that his father was very poor and he was surprised, because when he left he gave him a lot of money. Danglars and Caderousse were good friends. They were jealous because Dante will be the next captain of the ship. Lets take Dantes down

Caderousse and Danglars made a plan against Dantes, they wrote a letter to Villefort, a judge, it said that Dantes was working with Napoleon. Danglars wrote the letter with his left hand. In the wedding of Dantes and Mercedes an officer came and took Dantes away Come with me

Dantes met Villefort, the judge. Villefort asked Dantes some questions. In the middle of the conversation Dantes showed Villefort a letter he was suppose to deliver to Noirtier. Noirtier was Villeforts father and he worked with Napoleon. Villefort decided to send Dantes to prision to keep his father safe.

Dantes was taken to the Chateau a prison. Dantes was taken to a room for the night. The next day he insisted on seeing the governor, so they locked him up in an underground cell.

The chief officer went to visit the prisoners underground. The chief officer started talking to Dantes. The prisoner asked him if he could find out why he was there. The chief officer read in the book that he was with Napoleon and not to help him.

While Dantes was in his room he heard a sound of a prisoner trying to escape. He wanted to help him..He was number 27, Faria..Faria told Dantes that he was in prison because he wanted Italy to be one country.

Faria taught Dantes new ideas, he learned history, English, languages and many other things. Dantes was much happier there. Farias health got worse. One day Faria and Dantes were working on a secret path when suddenly Faria cried for help. He laid him down and then gave him the liquid in a bottle. He got better but he said next time it happened he would die.

Faria told Dantes a story. It was about his friend Spada and his treasure. Faria also showed Dantes the letter Cesare Spada wrote to his brother about the treasure I will tell you the story of my friend Spada

Farias’s illness was back, and his time he died. Before dying he told Dantes that if he ever got out that the treasure was his..The guards verified Farias death and left his body in the room until it was time to take him to his grave

Dantes entered Farias room and saw that his body was in a long bag of dirty cloth, he had an idea, he thought the only way getting out of there was by getting into the bag and pretending he was dead. Later the guards came and took the bag with Dantes inside, the tied a heavy weight and they threw him in the sea. The sea was the grave of the Chateau prison

Dantes was able to cut the weight and swin to the surface. He spotted a ship, The Young Amelia, coming from Marseilles, they pulled him on the ship The ship reached Livorno, they stayed there for a short time and then went to Corsica. Then they went back to Livorno, there the captain finally trusted Dantes and told him his plan of having a private meeting in the island of Monte Cristo They decided to sail to Monte Cristo the next night.

They reached the island. In the morning he went to find the treasure and he found the trail to the treasure. When he was heading back he fell and complained that he was badly injured so since he couldn’t move, he told the ships crew to go without him. The Young Amelia left the island, leaving Dantes alone

Dants wanted to be left alone so he could go get the treasure and that’s what he did. He followed the path and found the treasure

He waited for the Young Amelia which came six days later. They sailed back to Livorno. There Dantes left the Young Amelia and went to Genoa. In Genoa he bought a ship and sailed to Monte Cristo to get the treasure. Then he sailed back to Marseilles were he called himself the Count of Monte Cristo, he gave some money to one of his friends and he went to see Mercedes and his father. His father dies and he sails off with Mercedes
