CERN –  Project 1: September until December  Topic: Indicators for Scientific Journal Quality And whether they correlate with ”expert opinion”  Research: Review of theory Gathering and estimating indicators for scientific journal quality for HEP journals Surveying editors on the board of 11 HEP journals

Project 1: Findings  Ranking of the HEP journals by the indicators impact factor, SJR and h – journal correlate with the ranking based on the subjective ranking from high energy physicists within the field  No sign of transferring of editors personal merits and prestige onto the quality of the respective journal

CERN –  Project 2: January – June (Masters Thesis)  Topic: Best practices for digital repositories (archives)  In general  In specific ETD repositories  Research: Theory review Practices and experiences from EDT repositories around the world The usage of the CERN Theses Database  Students  Supervisors  Secreteriats at experiments and accellerator What can be learnt and transferred from ArXiv’s success

Project 2 – (Planed) Findings Practical Actionplan for a assuring a higher recovery rate of CERN theses to the CERN Theses Database Theoretical Best practices for  ETD Repositories  Subject/Community Repositories  Institutional Repositories  And how these different types best should co-exist The role of repositories on the way to Open Access
