How to Write

Ask yourself was the jellyfish….. above you between the sky and the water’s surface? show not tell …. how do you know? explain …. but show give more details … what does the water make you feel like? Can you hear the bubbles? Show not tell. Is the jellyfish beautiful or terrifying or silken glass shadows > always, always, show not tell … make your reader feel with you.

Showing not telling Showing and not telling means that you paint a picture for your reader with vivid words. A better way to understand showing and not telling is to relate it with a real life moment. Use description words, sensory words, emotional words. Think about a time where you might have seen a tree next a river. Later, you take down notes on the sensory type feelings you had and use that in your final draft.

What next…… Create a thesis statement. A thesis statement is the idea that governs the whole essay. It states the purpose of the paper and governs all of the information that is in the paper.thesis statement
