Planning & then choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person will ever make. Planning a career is the basis of a successful professional, although in today’s day and age there are several people who prefer to just go with the flow and avoid planning because things may not go as planned. However, when it comes to something as important as your career, planning it well with timely objectives would make you better prepared for your professional career graphs. Because without a plan or career blueprint to build on, people do not have a guide to lead them in their careers. It is always advisable for students to visit career guidance counsellors and once they pick a career for themselves then the next stages of career planning starts.

CAREER PLANNING (WHAT, WHY, WHEN & HOW) Ind ia’s higher education system is the second largest in the world, after the United States. The main governing body at the tertiary level is the University Grants Commission ( india), which enforces its standards, advises the government, and helps coordinate between the centre and the state. As if 2011, India has 42 central universities, 275 state universities, 130 deemed universities, 90 private universities, 5 institutions established and functioning under the state act, and 33 institutes of national importance. Other institutions include colleges as Government Degree colleges and Private Degree colleges, including 1800 exclusive women’s colleges, functioning under these universities and institutions. Some institutions of india, such as the IITs, IIMs, NITs and JNU. When the level of Indian education is so higher, no doubt our students are also doing brilliantly in any career they opt for. There is an endless list of careers to choose from, but what to choose is to be decided after giving it a deep though. Career planning is a must for every student desiring a bright future ahead. What actually is a career planning & when it is to be considered seriously is an important question to find an answer to.

WHAT is Career Planning? Career planning is a lifelong process, which includes choosing an occupation, getting a job, growing in our job, possibly changing careers, and eventually retiring. The Career planning Site offers coverage of all these areas. This article will focus on career choice and the process one goes through in selecting an occupation. This may happen once in our lifetimes, but it is more likely to happen several times as we first define and then redefine ourselves and our goals.
