Categorical Data Values or observations that can be sorted into groups or categories. Examples: Eye colour, Favourite colour, favourite sport. Bar charts and Pie graphs are used to graph categorical data.

Numerical Data Values or observations that can be measured numerically. And these numbers can be placed in ascending or descending order. Examples: Height, Arm Span and Weight. Scatter plots and line graphs are used to graph numerical data.

9F Oct 28th Workshop

Primary and Secondary Data xcg xcg Primary Data is data you collect yourself, for example by survey, observation or interviews. Secondary Data is data that is collected by other people and already exists, for example data from the Internet such as Australian Bureau of Statistics website.

Stem and Leaf Plots A Stem and Leaf Plot is a special table where each data value is split into a "leaf" (usually the last digit) and a "stem" (the other digits). Like in this example: "32" is split into "3" (stem) and "2" (leaf).

Q1. What is the total number of people younger than 30 years old who attended the speech? Choose the best answer and write in the blank below. a. 2 b. 81 c.14 d.60 Q2. Which interval of age group contains least number of people? Q3. How many people had ages from 25 to 40? Q4. Which stems contain at least 7 people?

Questions What is the range for the above stem and leaf plot? For the above stem and leaf plot, what is the median value?

What is the range for the above stem and leaf plot? What is the mode for the above stem and leaf plot?

What is the median for the above stem and leaf plot?

For the above stem and leaf plots, what is the mean value?
