Big Interview Peter Lombardo EDU 650 Dr. Jackie W. Kyger, ED. D. February 13th, 2016

Introduction  8 years of experience in the field of education  Life long learner  Passionate and creative  Motivates and encourages All about me... Position I am applying for... Given my skill set, I would be a beneficial member to your team and would help lead the school into the next generation of students. I am hoping to become the next sophomore lead teacher in your English Department.

Philosophy of Education  Based off of one unifying word: respect.  High expectations and individualized to the student (Le, 2014).  Continue to adapt to the changing landscape of education.  Student-centered in its approach.

Classroom Management  Based off of having systems in place with the goal to increase student achievement (Lopez, 2013).  Safe and comfortable learning environment  Student plays an active role in the classroom  Build relationships with students to gain trust.  Conversations and discussions as opposed to discipline.

School Model  Flexible and free  Focus on individuality and differentiation  Many adults present to help the teacher  Collaboration is at the forefront to education.  A different opportunity for families instead of public schools (Buckley, 2007). Charter School Continuation School Self paced Student centered Small class sizes to focus on student needs. Teacher acts like more of a facilitator for knowledge.

Lesson Planning/Student's Role  Organized and has a clear and specific goal.  Focus on the end product not on the material.  Lessons should be geared towards the student and their needs.  All lessons should be valuable and meaningful.

Assessment Matters  Should include a mix of formative and summative assessment  Formative assessment is geared towards student being active and responsible in their learning (Myers, 2015).  Summative assessments are considered state tests or unit tests.  Important note if students are not successful on a summative assessment, re-teach and that test becomes a formative assessment.

Professional Learning Communities  Never be satisfied with your current state and always strive to improve.  Set goals for yourself on what you wish to accomplish.  Seek advice and collaborate with other teachers.  Teachers must be a role model and not only teach skills but also possess them (Lopez, 2013).
