IMAGE PROCESSING is the use of computer algorithms to perform image process on digital images   It is used for filtering the image and editing the digital image which are taken from digital cameras.   The main feature of this technology Digital image editing

 A digital image is a 2d image as a finite set of digital values called PIXELS.  Pixels hold quantized values that represents brightness at the points of image.  A digital image is a 2d image as a finite set of digital values called PIXELS.  Pixels hold quantized values that represents brightness at the points of image.   Digital images can be created by a variety of input devices and techniques, such as digital cameras, scanners coordinate- measuring machines, etc... DIGITAL IMAGE

IMAGE TYPES: Digital images can be classified according to their no and nature of those samples. nature of those samples. Each pixel can be associated with a specific position consist one or more quantities (samples) to that position. one or more quantities (samples) to that position.

DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING: It is a computer algorithm to perform the image processing on digital images. It is a computer algorithm to perform the image processing on digital images. It allows much wide range of algorithms to be applied to the input data. It allows much wide range of algorithms to be applied to the input data. It avoid the problems such as build-up-noise and signal distortion during processing. It avoid the problems such as build-up-noise and signal distortion during processing.

Image editing: It alter the images whether digital or analog photographs or illustrations. Editing programs: It perform the operations such as cropping and rotating within camera itself. Digital data compression: Many image file formats use data compression to reduce file size and save storage space

Image Editor Features:  some of the most used capabilities of the better graphic manipulation programs... There are a myriad of choices associated with the application Some of these features 1) SELECTION 2) LAYERS 3) IMAGE SIZE ALTERATION 4) CROPPING AN IMAGE 5) NOISE REMOVAL 6) REMOVAL OF UNWANTED ELEMENTS 7) SELECTIVE COLOUR CHANGE 8) IMAGE GRADIENT 9) IMAGE ORIENTATION 10) MERGING OF IMAGES 11) SLICING OF IMAGES 12) SPECIAL EFFECTS 13) CHANGE COLOUR DEPTH 14) LENS CORRECTION 15) SHARPENING AND SOFTENING IMAGES 16) COLOUR ADJUSTMENTS 17) PRINTING.

CROPPING OF IMAGE  Digital editors are used to crop images. Cropping creates a new image by removing a desired rectangular portion from the image being cropped SELECTIVE COLOUR CHANGE  Some image editors have color swapping abilities to selectively change the color of specific items in an image, given that the selected items are within a specific color range.

REMOVAL OF UNWANTED ELEMENTS:  Most image editors can be used to remove unwanted branches, etc, using a "clone" tool. Composition  Removing these distracting elements draws focus to the subject, improving overall Composition The branch in the original the eye is drawn to the center of the globe.

CHANGE COLOUR DEPTH : CHANGE COLOUR DEPTH : It is possible, using software, to change the color depth of images. Common color depths are 2, 4, 16, 256, 65.5 thousand and 16.7 million colors. COLOUR ADJUSTMENTS: The color of images can be altered in a variety of ways. Colors can be faded in and out, and tones can be changed using curves or other tools

SPECIAL EFFECTS: Images may be skewed and distorted in various ways. Scores of special effects can be applied to an image which include various forms of distortion, artistic effects, geometric and texture effects, and combinations.

IMAGE FILTERING: Filtering is the basis for many image manipulation tasks performed by any application. Image filtering is CPU intensive task and processing images of the 100K × 100K pixels Filtering is the basis for many image manipulation tasks performed by any application. Image filtering is CPU intensive task and processing images of the 100K × 100K pixels it reduce the processing time of filtering. This operation allows performing image editing tasks such as image smoothing, sharpening, blurring, edge detection, mean removal and embossing it reduce the processing time of filtering. This operation allows performing image editing tasks such as image smoothing, sharpening, blurring, edge detection, mean removal and embossing Distributed Image Filtering: In large images the filtering process can take a lot of time and the operation is computationally intensive. Distributed computing on computational grids reduces the processing time and the CPU workload by means of parallel execution of distributed tasks. Features of the proposed model The test-bed comprises of a Server node and a number of client nodes. Initially clients register with the server to establish the grid. From the pool of client nodes, one client is designated as a task manager. Proposed Model : 1. linear 2.Flexibilty 3.scalability 4.Easy to use 5.Reliability Experimental Results : Centralized Image Filtering Distributed Image Filtering

APPLICATIONS · Science and engineering · Robotics · Remote sensing · Multi scale signal analysis · Medicine

ADVANTAGES It allows the use of much more complex algorithms for image processing. It allows the use of much more complex algorithms for image processing. It can avoid problems such as the build up of noise and signal distortion during processing. DISADVANTAGES The initial cost can be high.   Digital imaging in dentistry is not standardized.

Conclusion Digital image has gained its own importance in this present world and due to its various applications it is applied in many fields which gives better results compared to any other method of editing or making it.
