 Cassio is a young, inexperienced soldier, Othello’s lieutenant and friend. Cassio is also chosen by Othello to be his lieutenant. His reputation is ruined after being involved in a drunken brawl during Othello's honeymoon. Cassio also survives a murder attempt by Roderigo, by wounding his attacker.

 Othello is a general and commander of the Venetian armed forces, and later governor of Cyprus. Othello begins as a respected and noble hero. He then on secretly gets married with Brabantio’s daughter Desdemona. Later after all of what Iago convinces Othello about Desdemona being unfaithful, he kills his wife.

 Desdemona is a beautiful, young, white, Venetian debutante. But she refuses to marry any of the rich, handsome Venetian men. She marries with Othello an older black man. Desdemona not only defies her father by getting married behind her fathers back.

 Roderigo is a rich, unintelligent guy who thinks that if he sends Desdemona enough expensive presents, she'll fall in love with him. He's hired Iago to be his wingman. Iago takes the jewelry Roderigo thinks he's giving to Desdemona and sells it for a profit. In the end, Roderigo dies stabbed in the back by his wingman, Iago.

 Iago is a cruel, lying, backstabbing jerk who spends all of his time plotting against Othello and Desdemona, to eventually convincing Othello that his wife has been cheating, and when Desdemona has been completely faithful to Othello.

 Governor of Cyprus before Othello showed up to take command, Montano ends up getting in a fight with Cassio, and in turn gets Cassio in serious trouble.

 Emilia is Iago’s wife

 Desdemona's father, Brabantio, is a rich and important Venetian. He likes Othello and invites him to visit his house a lot but never expected Othello marry his daughter. He thinks that she would never marry him unless she was in a spell or drugged. Brabantio sees Desdemona as a way to get even more business transaction.
