Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)

Introduction Governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 which has declared them as INI. IITs have a common admission process for undergraduate level admissions, called IIT-JEE, which was substituted by Joint Entrance Examination Advanced in the year Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is being conducted in two divisions, JEE-MAIN and JEE-ADVANCED. JEE MAIN Exam was called as AIEEE and JEE ADVANCED Exam as IIT.

M.Tech and MS admissions are done on the basis of GATE exam score. IITs also award other graduate degrees such as M.Sc in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, MBA, PhD etc. Admission to these programs of IITs is done through CAT, Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) and Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED). In total, there are 23 IITs in India.

Eligibility Criteria Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as their mandatory subjects. They must have studied any one of the subjects as optional subjects (Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) They must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in 12 th including all subjects. Age – 17 yrs. A candidate can have a maximum of 3 attempts.

Exam pattern JEE Main comprises of two papers: Paper 1: For Engineering courses ( Online Test OR Offline Test) Paper 2: For Architecture/Planning courses (Available only as Pen & Paper Mode)

Paper 1 The Exam will have questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The candidates have to opt for the correct response for each question out of four responses given. The exam will be of 3 hours. Each correct question will be allotted 4 marks Every wrong answer will result in deduction of 1/4 mark of the total marks Zero marks will be deducted for no answer Medium of paper will be in English, Hindi.

Paper 2 It is a Pen and Paper based Exam. It consists of 3 parts: 1. Mathematics 2. Aptitude Test 3. Drawing Test

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern JEE Advanced Comprises of three parts- Part I for Physics, Part II for Chemistry and Part III for Mathematics. Each part will have sections as follows: Section I: Have 10 multiple choice questions with four options where only one is the correct. Section II: Have 5 multiple-choice questions with four options out of which one or more options are correct. Section III: Has 5 questions and the answer to each will be a single digit ranging from 0 to 9.
