Brain scans are used to study the structure of the brain and to identify brain abnormalities. Scans can also be used to study brain activity associated with thinking, which occurs in the front part of the brain.

Ex: Pupils shrinking in sunlight When you go out into the sun your nervous system senses the bright light coming into your eyes and tells your pupils to shrink and let in less light.
