OBJ: to write the prime factorization of a number.

Factors Whole numbers that can divide evenly into whole numbers. Write all the factors of the number

Prime or Composite Prime – a whole number that is greater than one and has exactly two whole number factors, 1 and itself. Composite – a whole number that is greater than one and has more than two whole number factors. Tell whether each number is prime or composite

Prime Factorization When you write a number as a product of its prime numbers. You can use a diagram to help you which is called a factor tree. Find the prime factorization of the following numbers

Factoring Monomials Monomial – a number, a variable, or the product of a number and one or more variables raised to whole number powers. To factor a monomial, write the monomial as a product of prime numbers and variables with exponents of 1. Factor the monomials. 6ab 15n 3 3x 3 y 2 36s 4 t

Assignments Create your own factor tree. Practice W.S. 4.1 B all problems.
