Total Surface Area of Pyramids

Recall: Definition of a Pyramid A pyramid has the following features One of the faces is a polygon base. The other slanted faces consists of triangles. The top point where all the slanted faces meet is called the apex.

Constructing a Pyramid!! Cut out solid lines of the pyramid from your handout. Fold along the dotted lines Apply glue on the ‘tab’ areas and join them together to form a square pyramid!

Nets of a Pyramid The shape that you have cut out from the activity is called the nets of the pyramid Adding up all the areas from the nets will allow us to find the total surface area of the pyramid!

Total Surface Area Total Surface Area of Pyramid = Total Area of all its Faces
