AEROSPACE COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN LABORATORY Automated Design and Optimization Goal: Demonstrate automated multidisciplinary design and optimization of a turbine blade Approach: Modular & Geometry Centric: Modular –CAPRI (Computational Analysis PRogramming Interface) is hub of design suite –Subsystem modules (CAD system, Mesher, Flow Solver…) interface directly with CAPRI –Subsystems may be replaced by other CAPRI compatible modules without affecting other subsystems Geometry Centric –Modules receive standardized tessellation generated by CAPRI –All geometry construction and modification performed using CAD kernel –Optimized design passed back to CAD system for easy manufacturing Keith DalbeyResearch Advisor: Bob Haimes.
