What can I Contribute? One person no more then 2,000 in a Primary No more then 95,000 in an election cycle PAC’s- Political Action Committees- 15,000 per party Candidate can donate all of their own money but once they take FEC money they can no longer use their own money 3 Dollar donation when doing your taxes
Big Money Hard Money- Money raised by the candidate has to be accounted for. Soft Money- funds given to party- building Activities, not accounted for- Illegal New Law Interpreted based on the 1 st amendment Any corporation can campaign for the candidate as much as they want as long as it is independent of the candidates funds
