SP Services for Homelessness Outcomes and Outturns Achievements in 2011/12 Next Steps

SP funded Homeless Services 110 Short-term services (1,500 units)- cost of £20.39m 39 Floating support services (2,150 individuals at any one time) - £5.97m Supplemented by private sector single lets (with or without support) Total SP spend £26.4m

Homelessness - SP targeted client groups Homeless:- Due to domestic violence and abuse People with alcohol and/or substance dependency who are homeless Due to leaving the criminal justice system or who are at risk of re-offending Young people who are homeless or leaving the care of social services

NIHE – SP approach & Homeless policy Aim to provide services:- To assist people in sustaining tenancies Prevent homelessness and Help them to continue to live independently in the community.

Highlights Clarendon Shelter – New premises at Ashmore House & enhanced service capacity. - Simon - Mount St Mews – Jointly commissioned service for young homeless and care leavers - FHASS –Jefferson Court – Jointly commissioned service for young homeless and care leavers - MACS – Enhancement to accommodation service to 24/7 and increased capacity and enhancement to floating support provision.

Service Developments Several business cases being progressed for the development of new services for young homeless in a range of areas. Ongoing implementation of Street Drinkers Strategy in Derry with a number of key providers – Harm reduction approach.
