INDUSTRIAL SEMINAR ON RDSO : TELECOMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT MADE BY: MAMTA CHAUDHARY

Research- Design and Standards Organization Basically RDSO has been established to perform following functions: Development, adoption for new techniques and standardization of materials and products specially needed by Indian Railways. Providing consultancy and inspection of critical and safety items of rolling stocks; locomotives, signalling and track components

CONTENTS OPTICAL FIBRE COMMUNICATION DIGITAL CLOCK WITH GPS SYNCHRONIZATION INTEGRATED PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEM COMMUNICATION SYSTEM EXCHANGE RAILTEL NETWORK

OPTICAL FIBRE COMMUNICATION It is a method of transmitting information from 1 place to another by sending pulse of light through optical fiber ADVANTAGES: Large bandwidth Low attenuation Signal security Low cross talk Immune to EM & RF interference

OPTICAL FIBER Optical fiber is a transparent medium having at least two layer with different refractive index. The main parts of optical fiber are: o Core o Cladding o Coating It works on the principle of total internal reflection

Splicing is the process of joining two optical fiber together OPTICAL FIBRE ANALYZER : It is designed to measure various type of fiber attenuation, such as transmission & splice losses to efficiently locate faults in optical fiber communication

DIGITAL CLOCK WITH GPS SYNCHRONIZATION It covers technical requirement of digital clock with GPS synchronization which consist of master clock & digital clock suitable for platform & office area complex of Indian Railways Format of office clock is HH:MM:SS Format of platform clock is HH:MM

MASTER CLOCK Master clock shall be used to synchronize digital clocks when wired in network. In such cases, digital clock will work as slave clock without any GPS receiver Master clock can control up to 64 slave clocks It synchronize time across all slave clocks It can be in 12 or 24 hr format

PLATFORM CLOCK The real time clock itself checks with the GPS time at every 16 sec. Platform clock displays as HH:MM format. The time at every platform clock is same across India. It is basically made up of RED LEDS.

INTEGRATED PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEM It covers technical requirement of PC based announcement system for announcing train information to passenger, electronic display board & coach guidance display board for displaying train information to passenger with a feature of networking & operation from centralized place

THROUGH SIGNAL

- Magneto telephone - 4 wire control telephone - 2w/4w portable control telephone 2w/4w light weight portable telephone 2wire 12 way selecting calling telephone 2/4w emergency rotable telephone LC gate communication system Autodialing system Train Traffic Control equipment (DTMF) COMPONENT USED IN WIRED COMMUNICATION

EXCHANGE Exchange at RDSO has mainly 3 different branches o Indoor unit o Power plant Purpose of exchange is to establish communication between two people via telephone o Outdoor unit

POWER PLANT: The supply is obtained from power plant is 48V DC which is obtained by a charger or battery installed INDOOR UNIT: It consist of following- Control cards Processor card Group controller Power supply card Peripheral shelf Peripheral power supply(PPS) Ringer power supply card (RPS) OUTDOOR PLANT : Exchange to location (instrument & media)

RAILTEL NETWORK  LOCAL AREA NETWORK : In this computers, printers and other devices are relative to each other & physically connected using cables & infrared links. It may exist with single or group of building  METROPOLITAN AREA NETWORK : It’s a large area network connecting many LAN together

 WIDE AREA NETWORK : This connects computer across wide geographical area  CAMPUS AREA NETWORK : It follows same principle as LAN only on a larger and diversified scale. Here different campus offices and organization can be linked together  HOME AREA NETWORK : It is contained within user home digital device from multiple computers

THANK YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY AHEAD!!
