The topic of addiction tends to stir strong emotions and opinions in us. These can sometimes lead to unwise responses.

Addressing this problem as God’s people challenges us to grow in maturity and in wisdom as we respond with the spiritual qualities that Scripture teaches us:

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

1.Compassion Treating all people with the dignity of those who are made in the image of God and loved by Him. Loving people in the totality of who they are – spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, social beings.

This problem needs a community-wide, cooperative approach: - Recovery programs (AA, MHA, UCAN) - Treatment facilities (inpatient and outpatient) - Medical clinics - Prevention agencies (CASAC) - Job programs - Housing - Law enforcement - Government
