Speaker slide: What is a Teaching Philosophy Statement? A teaching philosophy statement is a 1-1 ½ page (single-spaced) document articulating your beliefs about teaching and learning with evidence of how you enact those beliefs in your teaching. When someone reads your teaching philosophy statement, they should have a sense of what you want your students to gain from taking your classes and should be able to visualize you in the classroom and interacting with your students.

Speaker slide: Tips *Don’t rehash your CV; focus less on what courses you have taught and more on how it is you go about teaching *Even though it is called a Teaching “Philosophy” Statement it should not be theoretical
