 SPI Identify the correct use of verbs (i.e., action/linking, regular/irregular, agreement, tenses) within context.

 A verb in the past tense tells what the subject did some time ago. A verb in the future tense tells what the subject will do at a time to come.

Add –ed to most verbsjump jumped If a verb ends in e, drop the e and add – ed.smile smiled If a verb ends in a consonant plus y, change the y to i and add –ed.hurry hurried If a one-syllable verb ends with a consonant-vowel-consonant, double the final consonant and add –ed. flip flipped To ask a question in the past tense, add the helping verb did to most verbs. Put the subject between did and the main verb. Did the cubs chase each other yesterday? To form the future tense, add the helping verb will.

 Example: Tomorrow the games will start again.  Answer: will start, future
