Technology and Childhood Obesity SHANEL CLARK

Technology and Childhood Obesity THE NUMBER OF OBESE CHILDREN HAS INCREASED DRAMATICALLY OVER TIME. TECHNOLOGY AND A SEDIMENTARY LIFESTYLE ARE MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS EPIDEMIC.

Technology and Childhood Obesity

 The overindulgence in indoor leisure activities alone and in combination with other factors that produces obesity (Kar, 2014).  Technology includes video games, television, computers, online gaming, and etc.  The study found that children who spent 3 or more hours a day in front of technology had between a 17- and 44-percent increase of risk of being overweight, or a 10- to 61-percent increase risk in obesity (Cespedes, 2013).

Technology and Childhood Obesity  The children gain weight by putting in more calories than that of which they are putting out.  They replace exercise with the leisure that technology gives.  This replacement allows the children to put on weight.

Technology and Childhood Obesity  Is there a solution?  Get children more active  Limit the amount of calorie intake  Provide activities just as interesting as those forms of technology that involve moment  Provide a healthier diet for the children

Technology and Childhood Obesity THERE IS A SOLUTION TO OBESITY AND TECHNOLOGY. CHILDREN CAN USE TECHNOLOGY AS LONG AS THEY STAY ACTIVE. GET UP. GET OUT. GET MOVING!
