ESE Policies and Procedures - Amendments

 To maximize accessibility to the online curriculum, students will access the State standards/Access Points through appropriate online programming,  support from online certified support staff, online special education, and online general education teachers  support in the use of assistive technology designed for online learning environments, and through the use of universal design principals designed for online courses.

 Online students receive instructional support through specially designed online instruction and related online services as determined through the individual educational plan (IEP) process for online courses.

 Online teachers are trained in designing and implementing individualized online programs to address the learning needs of each student in the online course.

 Online teachers are provided with online administrative support to assure reasonable class size/workload, adequate funds for online resources and new technologies, and professional development to remain current with emergent and evolving educational technology for effective online instruction.

 Online teachers instruct students in the unique skills necessary to access and benefit from the online curriculum. These skills may include, but are not limited to, online curriculum and learning strategies, online compensatory skills, online independent or interdependent functioning, online social behavior, use of assistive online technology, and online communication.

 A range of online service delivery options is available to meet the online student’s needs: online consultation, itinerant online instruction, online resource room, online special class, and online community-based or online home-based services via computer assisted technology software with telephone and online communication.
