Delaware Health and Social Services Overview Our vision is healthy people in healthy communities. Our mission is to protect & improve the health of all people in Delaware. We are committed to achieving the greatest impact on the health of all people in Delaware by using resources in the most efficient way to achieve desired results. Prevention is key to public health.

Delaware Health and Social Services Overview & Accomplishments $126.5 million - amount of dollars administered through the Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Program portfolio. 55,147 - number of school-based wellness center visits. 34,983 - number of hits on the food inspection webpage.

Delaware Health and Social Services Overview & Accomplishments 19,663 - number of inspections of regulated businesses conducted last year in order to assure public health standards were met. 11,893 - number of infants screened last year through the Newborn Screening system - with 478 infants confirmed to have a metabolic or genetic abnormality. 7,891 - number of cancer screenings (breast, cervical and colonoscopies) through Screening for Life program last year.

Delaware Health and Social Services Making our Dollars Work Harder Starting in July 2011, School Based Health Center vendors will bill insurers for covered services. Infant mortality prevention services have changed to ensure funding is directly tied to serving high-risk women and achieving positive outcomes.
