Alliteration

What is Alliteration? Alliteration is a literary device that uses the repetition of the same sound at the beginning of words that are near each other.

Where is alliteration used? Alliteration is used mostly in poetry. It can be used in any writing. Authors use alliteration in tongue twisters.

Why do author’s use alliteration? It is a technique author’s use to create a mood and shows how an author wants to emphasize certain words and concepts.

Betty Botter by Mother Goose Betty Botter bought some butter but, she said, the butter’s bitter; if I put it in my batter it will make my batter bitter, but a bit of better butter will make my batter better. So she bought a bit of butter better than her bitter butter, and she put it in her batter and the batter was not bitter. So ‘twas better Betty Booter bought a bit of better butter.
