GENERAL RULE OF THUMB Classes should be “co-created” or “mirrored” whenever possible to accurately track information INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

ACTIVITY (SUB-FUND) CODE AND ENROLLMENT TARGETS 3  Students can count independently for multiple targets/sub fund codes  At any one time a student may be a career pathways student, a transitions student (we’ll speak more about this) and a distance learning student  The funding should match the activity, not the “student” INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

ACTIVITY (SUB-FUND) CODE AND ENROLLMENT TARGETS 4  Students can count independently for multiple targets/sub fund codes  At any one time a student may be a career pathways student, a transitions student (we’ll speak more about this) and a distance learning student  The funding should match the activity, not the “student”  Students will only count once for a program’s overall enrollment target, which is why you have to run Table IV for all funding sources except other to get a program’s enrollment INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

CAREER PATHWAYS INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

EXAMPLE: IET Program will be using AEFLA funds to support a THECB- funded Accelerate Texas Project INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

EXAMPLE: IET Basic Skills Support Class Funded with AEFLA Students should be entered with IET(AEFLA) funding source Technical Training class (does not go in TEAMS at this time*) *This will change 7/1 INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

WHAT’S CHANGED? INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

AEL “AEL grantees must be aware that AEL funding may be expended to support the IET service approach, including workforce training and workforce preparation activities, of which digital literacy may be included.” INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

HOW DO PROGRAMS TRACK IET UNDER THE NEW GUIDELINES? From AEL – 1) “AEL grantees must be aware that before implementing the workforce training services under the IET service approach, they must submit the proposed IET program of study to TWC through the Career Pathways Implementation Plan portal at 2) AEL grantees must report workforce training expenditures by funding source as part of the monthly expenditure reports submitted through the Cash Draw and Expenditure Reporting system (CDER). INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

CHANGES TO TEAMS  Beginning July 1, 2016, programs will report training hours in TEAMS.  Training hours include  Workforce Training  Workforce Preparation Activities  Digital Literacy INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

TEAMS – CURRENT STATE The way training hours will be tracked is similar to how proxy hours are tracked now. INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

TEAMS – CURRENT STATE (2) If you select a “Distance Learning Model” and “Curriculum” in TEAMS… INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

TEAMS – FUTURE STATE New options under “coursework”  IET  Integrated ELC (EL Civics)  Workplace Literacy  Work Readiness  Digital Literacy INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

QUESTION (1) QUESTION: “Does ‘IET’ under the new coursework options replace ‘I- BEST’” ANSWER: Yes and No. We cannot “replace” I-BEST, the existing option, as there is old data tied to it. But after June 30, you should use the new “IET” option when creating integrated education and training classes in TEAMS. INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

TEAMS – FUTURE STATE (2) T INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

QUESTION (3) QUESTION: “What are considered training hours under this new TEAMS model?” ANSWER: “New allowable activities under WIOA will all be tracked as ‘T’, or ‘Training Hours’ under the new TEAMS model.  Digital literacy that are part of an approved IET  Workforce preparation activities that are part of an approved IET  Workforce Training that is paired with a basic skills for an IET Reminder – Workforce Training, in isolation, is not an allowable activity under AEFLA. Workforce preparation activities and digital literacy must also be part of an IET. INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

SUPPLEMENTAL REPORTING – IET/TRAINING Beginning 4/23 (the effective date of the AEL letter) if you plan on implementing an approved IET program, you will need to report students on the supplemental reporting template. INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

WHY SUPPLEMENTAL REPORTING? As we embark on changes under WIOA, we need to be able to report more information about the activities taking place in our grants. INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016

ABOUT THE TEMPLATE  Password protected  Functionality to automatically attach to an to send to us as a part of your monthly data validation  Should always reflect “current state”  Add students as they are enrolled  Update information as it changes  You should never remove a student if they drop out; you just won’t indicate any completion information for those individuals INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND TRAINING # 2 MARCH 31, 2016
