Helping Hurting People Heal Grafted is a place where people who have been hurt in the past can come and experience healing from the wounds they have received. Jesus healed many in His ministry as an example of the ultimate healing that would take place when He took our sins, and by His wounds we are now healed. Bringing the pain that we are experiencing to Jesus is one way we can declare with our actions the healing power that is found in the good news.

1 Corinthians 13: Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.

3 questions about helping hurting people heal 1.What kind of healing can be more important than physical healing? –or – What other kind of healing does God do? 2.What kind of wounds can we, a church, mend? 3.How can each one of us play a part in helping hurting people heal?

Psalm 147:1-6 Luke 5:27-32

Psalm 147:1-6

1 Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. 2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. 5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. 6 The Lord lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground.

Luke 5:27-32

27 After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth. And he said to him, “Follow me.” 28 And leaving everything, he rose and followed him. 29 And Levi made him a great feast in his house, and there was a large company of tax collectors and others reclining at table with them. 30 And the Pharisees and their scribes grumbled at his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”

Questions for us to think about: 1.What are some hurts in your heart that you need God to heal? 2.What are some hurts in your life that you need to talk to someone else so that they can start to heal?
