Workshop Goals and Purpose This workshop is being held pursuant to ALJ Robert Mason’s ruling of April 29, Goals: 1.to improve the accessibility and usability of publicly available data and 2.to establish a stakeholder-driven process to that will consider expansion of access to data from utilities, from third party DER providers and from others. Purposes of the Data Access workshop: 1.To provide an opportunity for the IOUs to address questions related to potential improvement of their data access proposals in the Distribution Resources Plans 2.To enable parties to present proposed improvements or changes to the utility proposals 5

CPUC Actions on Data Smart Grid Proceeding (R , closed) –D : Adopting requirements for smart grid deployment plans pursuant to Senate Bill 17 (Padilla) (Requires Grid Security and Cyber Security Strategy Section, Customer Data Privacy, Sec. 3.6 at 49 in Decision) –D : Adopts rules to protect the privacy and security of electricity usage data of customers (PUC 8380,“covered information”) –D : Authorizing provision of customer energy data to third parties upon customer request (Customer Data Access or Green Button Connect) –D : Adopts rules to provide access to energy usage and usage-related data while protecting privacy of personal data (Use Case 6: Third-parties, e.g. Solar PV Installers, Seek Access to Anonymous Data to Identify Households that could Benefit from their Services) 7
